The weather was very pleasant, the piggies did their job and provided loads of entertaining Piggy TV, there was a good crew of impromptu dough rollers and pizza makers, and Tim produced a steady stream of pizzas from the hot oven. Farm tours were enthusiastically attended. We even got a group to get their hands dirty and transplant some basil!
Many CSA members took advantage our bonus share offer. I think this will probably be an annual end of April affair now that we are really establishing our 4-season greenhouses. We don’t really have time to set up a regular CSA delivery in early spring when work on the farm is really hopping, but we are happy to share the harvest when people can come to the farm, take a little time to get to know where their food comes from, and share in the community around the farm.
It was also great to see former Luna Bleu Crew members Helen and Aurora! And a big thanks to our son, Lucas, Aurora, and Rene who were drafted to get us ready for the day . . . without them the tables would have been unwashed, the dough unkneaded, soil block unmade. . . And at the last minute, I roped Katie Runde into making our open house sign . . . you can see some of her artistic flair come through.
